#95 starry night

#95 starry night, originally uploaded by johnfitzg.

I had a go at photographing star trails last night. Unfortunately I couldn’t make a super-long exposure (30 minutes plus) without a remote shutter release, so had to settle for a more standard shot. I didn’t have a tripod, either, but resting my camera lens up on a bench did the trick.

A rather last-minute photo today. I’d read about the technique of ‘freezing’ a water drop over on photoradar.com. The article there called for quite an elaborate setup, with off-camera flash, macro lenses etc. I just balanced my camera on the edge of the sink, set a large dose of manual flash, and did it by trial and error!

Daily photo #93 digger claw rests on the prom

I liked the solidity and texture of this digger bucket on Sheringham prom.

Anne baked an incredible flan today. I went for this close crop to emphasise its incredible size. Sadly we’re not eating it today, it’s in the freezer for another time…

My family go along to this natural voice singing group, who were nice enough to let me take some photos. The lighting was tricky, though!

Not great from a technical point of view, but I like the insight this gives into the life of my f-in-law. He is often found with his apron on, scouring the fridge for odd ingredients to make implausibly tasty soups.

Not much in the way of sunlight today, so I settled for a warm cup in the kitchen.

#88 sunset behind a tree
Quite early in the sunset, but I liked the strong silhouette of this tree.

Daily photo #87 the eyes have it
A quick walk out today, found this odd set of knots in the wood of the shed. They look very much like two pairs of eyes.

We went to see Bernard (Grandad Barker) today and had a great time. Always ready with a laugh, you’d never know he was 87. See here for a slightly more subdued version.
