Seeing the sights in Edinburgh today, was pleased to find this unusual view of a familiar sight. Believe it or not, this is a colour shot – exposing it as a silhouette made the castle almost completely black. I love the sense of a brooding castle against the bare branches. I’m realising that bare branches are frequently featuring in my daily photos at the moment!

Out of time today, so went for this interior abstract of a door at Andy and Jane’s in Edinburgh.

On Sunday night we say Majk play a pub in Sheffield. I can’t remember it’s name, of course. Majk wowed us with songs such as ‘isn’t it bubonic?’ Had to take this on my mobile phone as I’d left my camera back at home. All a bit blurry, but I like Majk’s reflection on the right.

We drove up to Sheffield today (Friday). A fairly unremarkable sign, shot out of the car window, but I liked the dark background just as dusk was drawing in.

In this shot, I liked the combination of the subtle colours in the sky, and the interesting range of shapes in the silhouettes.

In London today to photograph Paul, who is the new Recording Clerk of Quakers in Britain. I struggled to get the lighting right, and this may not be the shot that makes it into print. It was a bit rushed as I was interviewing him as well as taking his portrait!

A cool and blustery day. Luckily the tide was on the turn so I had a good choice between the empty sand and the encroaching tide. I like the way this shot shows the sea creeping up the beach.
